Sagira’s Story
Iron Legacy’s Little One
Before the move to Florida, Tevin and Jessica made an important decision that would shape the future of Iron Legacy Working Dogs—acquiring Sagira, a remarkable female Turkish Kangal and Spanish Mastiff cross. Hailing from upstate New York, Sagira was already a force to be reckoned with. At 140 pounds, she exudes a natural presence that demands respect and admiration. Her sheer size and commanding demeanor made it clear from the start that she was a dog of substance, one who would play a pivotal role in their breeding and working dog programs.
Sagira was no ordinary dog. She came into their lives as more than just a companion—she became an irreplaceable asset to their growing family and operation. From day one, it was clear that Sagira was not just about size or strength; she was a true guardian dog at heart, fiercely protective of her family and her home. Her instincts were sharp, and her presence alone made the world feel safer, as though she was always keeping watch, ready to step in when needed. Sagira’s loyalty to Tevin and Jessica, along with her protective nature, quickly made her the backbone of the family’s security.
But Sagira’s impact wasn’t limited to her role as a guardian. As a dam, she went on to produce the Euro Mountain Mastiffs crossed with Havok, becoming the mother of a litter that would continue to shape the legacy of Iron Legacy Working Dogs. She demonstrated what it truly meant to be an excellent mother, guiding her puppies with patience, care, and a deep understanding of how to raise strong, healthy, and well-behaved dogs. Her maternal instincts were unparalleled, and her ability to nurture and teach her puppies helped ensure that they were ready to go on to serve as companions, service dogs, and working dogs for families across the country.
One of the things that truly set Sagira apart was her role as a teacher to the other dogs in the program. Whether it was helping to mentor younger dogs or guiding them in their training, Sagira was always there—calm, composed, and wise. She taught not only her own puppies but the entire pack what it meant to be a loyal, balanced, and well-behaved dog. Her natural ability to lead by example was invaluable, especially to the younger, more energetic dogs in the program who were still learning the ropes of what it meant to be a working dog. With Sagira around, the other dogs knew they had a steady, reliable presence to look up to.
Sagira’s calm demeanor, combined with her natural strength, makes her the perfect balance between protector and teacher. She’s the kind of dog who exudes confidence without needing to prove herself—she lets her actions speak for her. Whether standing guard or playing with the younger dogs, Sagira carries herself with a grace that belies her size. Her role in the family is invaluable, and she has proven time and again that she is a true asset—not only to Iron Legacy Working Dogs but to Tevin and Jessica’s lives.
As a guardian dog, she remains ever-watchful, ready to protect her family at a moment’s notice. But she also knows when to relax and let the other dogs enjoy their time. Her balance of strength and calmness creates a stable environment for everyone around her. Sagira is a dog who knows her purpose and fulfills it every single day, never faltering in her loyalty or her dedication.
Now, as part of the Iron Legacy program, Sagira’s legacy continues through her offspring, who carry on her traits of strength, loyalty, and guardianship. She has given Tevin and Jessica not just her physical presence but her wisdom, her nurturing nature, and the unwavering foundation that she’s helped build within their program. From her first days in their lives to her continued role as a guiding figure, Sagira is much more than just a dog—she is the heart and soul of Iron Legacy Working Dogs.
